Our lane has a long row of native Anaqua trees. They have a dark green leaf that is leathery and rough like a cat’s tongue. Every spring they are covered with clouds of white star-shaped flowers. By mid to late summer, they are covered with little berries about the size of small cranberries..
They start off being yellow, then they turn pinkish coral and then deep pinkish purple. As they ripen and fall, the birds and the deer enjoy the bounty.
Mama doe enjoys a quick snack of berries.
Papa buck joins her some mornings…He is still “in velvet” and his horns are round at the tips…looks like 8-points.
The baby twins usually hang around in the thicket, but once in a while, they venture out to join mama munching on the sweet berries…
Now, isn’t that just the sweetest little face? And just look at those big eyes…I used to fuss at her for munching on my pink roses…but I’ve had an attitude adjustment…more of a “ PINKatude” and as I have said before, the roses have never made me as happy as my little deer families with their new babies every spring…Now swing in to Beverly’s blog to pick up the list of today’s Pink participants. Oh, how lucky you are! I had little Miss Pearl born in my gardens a few weeks back that I shared ...I cannot get enough of these beautiful creatures.

What a beautiful share this morning. I love the colored berries on the trees. How pretty they look, and then nature gives them back to the breathing beauties in the deer. I love it.
Your photos of the deer twins, little spots, just precious. I love it. I also love the Daddy with his beautiful rack. She comes right up to you to take the bread. How wonderful that is.

Ahhhhh....that's just the cutest post!!
Sadly, we're having a huge issue of over population of deer in our area....so many deer/car encounters. In fact, my daughter nailed a part of a deer leg when she was pulling into her apart. complex ----it JUMPED out in front of her car late at night..in the middle of the Kansas City Metro area! She was so upset that she hurt it...we were upset that her brand new car had a major dent in it...but also thrilled she wasn't hurt. Now, on the other hand, I think they are beautiful creatures and love their beautiful eyes, too!! I know those sweet deer appreciate your kindness about letting them nibble on your roses!! :)
