Cold All Over the World Pink Saturday

It seems as if all my blog buddies and FaceBook friends are suffering the ill effects of a very cold winter.  Jack Frost brought along a cold hearted hag who has long since worn out her welcome. Don’t get me wrong, I’m always the first to welcome fall and I look forward to making our first batch of simmering chili. We love kettles of steaming soup and I’m a huge fan of hot cocoa. Within moderation! We reached the “all right already” stage three cold fronts back.

I can’t hurry spring no mater how many seed catalogs and planting guides I look at, but what I can do is surround myself with PINK!!!

A PINK tree in the dining room is all decked out for Valentine’s Day. It adds such a warm, happy glow to the house that I’m shaking off some of the cold weather “blahs” that have had me by the big toe. I’m still looking forward to warmer weather, but the PINK hearts and cherubs have put a smile on my face…

Now, isn’t that better? No wonder we all love PINK! Beverly is a genius for inventing this weekly celebration!!

Then my collection of handmade Valentines was scattered on a lighted lace draped display cabinet.

Look at the beautiful details and all the PINK! Many were made by Pink Saturday ladies who spent a year creating pages for each other in our Circle of Friends Journals.

We can spend the day with our favorite hot tea visiting everyone who is posting this weekend. Thanks for stopping by and thanks again, Beverly  .http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog/pink-saturday/

I’m in a much better mood now.

What a neat post - I love your tree and especially the fan on it. Needless to say you have a fabulous collection of Valentines. Honestly I think they are something I might grab in a fire! I absolutely love mine...going back to when we made them at Judy's in Corpus. Stay Warm!

I gave up decorating for any occasion a long time ago. It is no fun when it is just one. I dearly love seeing what other have tho.

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

Mexicana Dishes
My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
