Don’t you wonder what this sweet little pink lady is talking about?
I wish you could take a deep breath and smell the beauty this morning…You might first think that it’s the pink Mandevilla blossoms that are producing the sweetness…
but if you follow your nose, you’ll realize that the air is being perfumed by the Gardenias…They are heavenly.
Aren’t they beautiful…an old Southern favorite to be sure. As a young girl we lived in McAllen, Texas, and I had a Gardenia outside my bedroom window. Of course, we didn’t have air conditioning back in the day…our homes were built for cross ventilation and so I fell asleep and woke to that heavenly aroma for a couple of months during the summer. I’ve been pouring the Green Light Super Bloom to this flower bed and I hope it is in full bloom when our son brings his new bride for a visit. She loves flowers and I would love to be able to arrange an old fashioned cut glass vase of these beauties for her to enjoy as she drifts off to sleep.

Our eldest son, Paul, finally found a bride…We are so excited that he has “Met his Match”.
…Her name is Chrissy and they were married in a lovely garden wedding in Corpus Christi last Saturday. They kept it small…her family, us, and a few close friends.
Look at the resemblance between Grandmother, Mother and Daughter…
Aren’t we a happy group? Don’t they make a lovely couple? So it’s official now…Mike and I are In-Laws and we finally have a daughter. They are honeymooning in Texas…I’ll post more pictures when they come home to meet the rest of our family. Say a little blessing for their marriage and a little prayer for their happiness.
It’s amazing that Pink Saturday is already here and it’s also the Fourth of July already! I’ll spend part of the day at Wimberley’s Trade Day selling my lighted wine bottles and wine-theme gifts
so I’ll miss the morning parade around the town square. We’ll stay home in the evening for B-B-Q with the neighbors. We live on the banks of the Guadalupe River where giant cypress and pecan trees shade the picnic area and even though the temperatures will hit 100, the river will cool us down…The lawn chairs will be positioned as we hope to get a good angle for the fireworks show amid a chorus of oooh’s and aaah’s. Very small town Americana…very red, white and blue. Very wonderful.
I haven’t forgotten Pink Saturday though. Be sure to visit Beverly and the other PS celebrants… How Sweet The Sound It’s sure to be a great day for a visit.
I do want to share one very special pink picture…it’s my niece, Kara Elizabeth all decked out in pink from head to toe for a pony ride…she will celebrate her 17th birthday on Sunday. This picture was taken when she was about three and already horse crazy. Would you just look at that precious pixie smile…
She still loves her horses and she has grown to be an excellent rider and a fine horsewoman. She works hard to be an accomplished student…and best of all, a very positive role model to her younger sisters, Kate and Kendra. We are very proud of her. Happy Birthday, Kara.

Paper Cowgirls, that is…They’ll take off and head to Waxahachie, Texas for a Texas-size celebration leaving a trail of glitter and paper scraps from every corner of Texas and Louisiana. The occasion was the Paper Cowgirl Altered Art Retreat which brings together a variety of very talented and versatile teachers along with an equally varied group of artists.
One of the high points of the event is the Swapping! You heard me, Swapping! We gathered and created and swapped anything you can name! No, not our dearly beloved hubbies…they were left at home to keep the plants watered. We swapped crowns, packets of ephemera, specially-created charms, embellished dominos, inspiration collections, art trading cards, and a fabulous fat fabric book. Everything had a Texas theme or a vintage paper connection! We all came home with more treasures than you can imagine.
I gathered 15 packets of vintage paper for the paper Treasure Swap…those packets were traded for 15 different collections…Lots of “ooohing” and “aaahing”as we opened our packages. They were filled with
Postcards and
Greeting cards and
Packets of treasures.
I added some Republic of Texas cash to spend in the shops on Vendor’s Night…
Of course, I included a picture of myself dressed in my first rodeo outfit…I’ve aged a bit since then…the years have been good to me…but it’s the weekends that have done me in.
We also created Miss Texas crowns to present to our partners…I made a Cowgirl Tea Party crown for Miss Nancy. It featured a group of ladies ready to rope and ride along with a sweet little tea set to remind us that every dusty trail deserves a cup of tea.

The entire group felt like Texas royalty!
