Pink Saturday in February means Hearts and Candy

Nothing is more fun in the middle of this gloomy winter than Valentine’s Day…it’s placed in the perfect season to really be appreciated or did it  catch on as a big holiday because everyone needed some pink and bright red to bring us out of the winter doldrums…like which came first the chicken or the egg?…Well, whatever the case, it’s just what the doctor ordered for me… Fancy Nancy at My Crafty Little Page http://www.mycraftylittlepage.blogspot.com/ invited  me to a valentine swap and this is her creation…

It’s full of ephemera from the very vintage BINGO card to the cute little German boy scrap.  And the gold foil Cupid is the perfect touch… Isn’t that the sweetest little face?100_1158

Nancy was inspired by the Dolly Dingle Valentine Swap that Elizabeth at Creative Breathing was hosting. I wasn’t quick enough to accept Elizabeth’s invitation, but was very happy to join Nancy in her side swap. This treasure joins more pink on my Valentine Tree.

Lots of pink to be found here. And look at this cutie from Mary Ann McKeating.

Wouldn’t you just love to have your old boxes of grade school Valentines back? I’ll  bet there were some pretty cute die cut treasures in those boxes. Well, enough reminiscing about the past…I’m off to check in with Beverly to see who is posting today. http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

Happy Pink Saturday!!! Did you know I was in Nancy's swap, too? I adore the amazing cards she made. I was a tardy swapper.....she didn't get hers from me until today. I didn't know what I was doing....but next time I'll get on it sooner!

Love your Valentine tree....and YES, I'd love to have some of my old cards...and I'd love to have the old Valentine boxes I made to sit on my desk. Such a sweet time!

Have a great weekend and wonderful Valentine's Day!

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Valentine's Day, LaVerne.

I love your card from Nancy. In fact, I love both cards. And, now you have me thinking I might need a Valentine tree.

I would love to have my old valentines, and like Dana, I wish I had my boxes, too.♥♥♥

Hi LaVerne,

Thank you so much for visiting me but more so thank you for the important work that you do.
I primarily write a decorating blog but on occasion I do give little glimpses into my life as an encouragement to others. I believe that Nancy put a link on her blog yesterday for one such story. It too might help in your work.

Be blessed and happy hearts day!

Limping Deer and the Twins

Limping Deer and the Twins
They are still spotted at this time.

Show and Tell Sunday June 15

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

Mexicana Dishes
My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
