Pink Saturday …Let’s Get This Party Started!…NOT

Hope your New Year is filled with Blessings in every shade of Pink…I’ll spend the day taking down Christmas. My mother’s family always liked to keep everything up until Epiphany, but I won’t honor that tradition this year. I’ve been fighting a cold all week and I’m keeping my germs at home. No big parties for me.  Nope, I’ll be watching the Rose parade and the Bowl game later while I pack it up. But before I put the lid on the last box, I do want to share some holiday pink.  This little tree stands in the dining room and it is dedicated to handmade felt stars and Russian wood folk ornaments.

Isn’t that just the sweetest face? and look at those rosy pink cheeks. The felt stars came from Nancy’s church craft show a few years back.  And look at these pretties… and the priest to keep us mindful of the season…

The Wooden Russian ornaments are from our trip to Alaska. They are a great reminder of a fabulous trip.  A group of nested dolls are gathered around the base.

It’s a Wonderful Pink Life

Yes, that’s my all time, hands down, no doubt about it favorite Christmas movie. It’s a Wonderful Life …If it had a classic song like “White Christmas”, it would be complete. I had a longer post with pictures ready to go…thought I had posted and linked, but this newer edition of Live Writer sent the draft into the hidden depths of my laptop and I just can’t find it…hope this one makes it to the surface intact. Happy Pink Saturday to all until I figure out the kinks.

Baby, It’s Cold Outside…wishing for some Pink in a warmer climate

Well, it’s not really that cold…not even below freezing tonight, but cold enough to make me long for the warm climate of the south of France…I’ve been once…last month and now I can casually throw out a comment like that to make myself sound more sophisticated. In reality, I was such a tourist…I mean who else takes pictures of chairs?

But they were PINK and they made me think of Pink Saturday…and this menu…

This is in Toulon, France, on the Mediterranean coast…these little cafes are right on the water…and when they offer the catch of the day, they mean it…

People go right down to the docks and buy right off the boat. Then they go across the street to buy their herbs…

and their vegetables…

and their fruits…

and maybe a little snack…

These pictures were taken on Pink Saturday in early November…it was the market day in Toulon…do you think they knew I was a tourist?…have you ever seen foreigners taking pictures in an American grocery store? or in Wal-Mart? Well, of course not, it’s just not the same. And today I wouldn’t mind being back in France to shop at the flower market…

But I’ve got Christmas cookies to bake and gifts to wrap…so I’ll put off day dreaming about warmer places and enjoy the Blessings of the season while I put another log on the fire and pull out the soup recipes…Happy Pink Saturday…hope your Christmas plans are happy ones.
