Pink Saturday…Can You Believe I Won All This?

One of the best facets of our blog friends must be their open hearts and their generosity.  We visit each other now and again during the week and we form the 21st century version of old-fashioned Pen Pals… I have a hometown friend who has a Japanese Pen Pal  with whom she has been corresponding  since elementary school. They were paired during the 50’s after reading an article in My Weekly Reader.  The two recently met when his family visited the United States. Amazing these days when many marriages don’t last but a few years that her long distance friendship has lasted for so many decades.

While blogging does not have the decades-old history of pen pals, it has introduced us to amazing women who share their stories so willingly…and it’s not just their wisdom and encouragement, but also their talents that they share. Nowhere is that so evident as in the many swap sites and groups that exist…and in the giveaways that we have seen here among the Pink Saturday ladies….Let me show you what I mean. Now don’t be jealous…I visited with Miz Mollye http://mizmollye.blogspot.com/ one Pink Saturday when she was hosting a giveaway and I WON!

This page with its poetry about a Mother’s Love is may be my favorite. There is a page dedicated to dance

So we may not have been pen pals for decades, but I have found a sweet friend in Miz Mollye in Louisiana . And it’s all because another sweet gal named Beverly had an idea for a series of blog posts! Speaking of Beverly, she made the super suggestion that we tell about blogs we have visited on P.S. Well, I visited Treasia’s blog Stepp Into My World   http://steppintomyworld.blogspot.com/ she has lots of vintage pink to share. Enjoy the day…stay in with a cup of tea and stay warm…Central Texas won’t be much above freezing all day…we Girls Raised In The South aren’t used to so much cold! Thank Heavens for blogs!

Hi Laverne, Thank you for the sweet and happy Happy Birthday Wishes! Oh I am tickled you featured my little pressies to you on your post. I had such fun creating that book as I had been absent from the art scene for more than 20 years and about 4 years upon re-entering the world of art, and mixed media and such made that book and just loved the process. And dang it but ain't it the truth about this crazy northern weather, Ole man winter surely got lost this year didn't he. XXMollye

I'm a day late and a dollar short with my Pink Saturday visits. The sun was shining too bright yesterday and just like a little kid I couldn't stop marveling at how lovely it was as it beamed through my lace curtains and puddled on the floor. My cats were in heaven.

So, here I am today, a little late but thinking that I got a bonus because I avoided all the traffic!

Lovely blog and the sweetest pinks that you shared. Thank you so much for making this such a lovely Sunday for me.

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

Mexicana Dishes
My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
