For Christmas this year Mother and I went through her holiday themed pins and picked one for each of the granddaughters. I embellished ornaments with tiny jingle bell garland and gold ribbon. Then I pinned one of Grandmother’s pin to the bow of each…they turned out really cute and the girls seemed pleased…
I wish I had close ups, but my camera was being moody. I’m really proud of how much the girls appreciated an ornament with a story…It just shows how special they are…my sister remembered the pins from the past and now they will hang on her tree instead of lying forgotten in a jewelry box… I love recycling and upcycling pieces with a history.
Several years ago I made memory ornaments for several of my best friends. They were similar to these, but they were made using vintage estate jewelry. I may just keep it up…Hope your holiday was Merry…take a minute to Stop in at Beverly’s house to see the list of Pink Saturday players.

What a great idea, Laverne. And that the girls really appreciated the sentiment and heritage behind the pins~ornaments makes it soooo special. Thanks for visiting on my 12th PSat....it was fun with the chicken dance and pink eggs!
Those pins/ornaments are a wonderful gift. I have some costume jewelry from my grandmother and it reminds me of her every time I see it. What a great inheritance (specially cuz your mom's still here!)
Thanks for visiting me on Pink Saturday.

LaVerne, I love this idea. Those will certainly be gifts that are forever treasures.
I thought you might like to read this post about what I did with some of my pins.

Happy Pink Saturday and Happy Holidays.
I love your idea for the recycled jewelry! It means so much when the recipients are as pleased as we are making it!
