Pink Saturday Celebration of Miracles and Victories

Today is a special Pink Celebration…We are celebrating bravery and miracles in our lives and in the lives of those who are battling Cancer. Please join this special Saturday by visiting Kelee at for an amazing day as Guideposts Magazine reveals a special healing room created for a special lady.

I just celebrated my birthday  with an annual tradition that some might find unusual…I’m giving myself my yearly mammogram…well, not on my actual birthday, but I make sure it’s at least scheduled by my birthday. I consider it a wonderful gift to myself…we are so fortunate to live in a time when early detection is saving so many lives.

A couple of years ago one of my Flickr groups made Itty Bitty Books to commemorate  Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this was my page…I don’t have the book any more; I sent it to Gilda  who is one of the millions of American women who have survived Breast Cancer.

That was then… this is now…2010 and Gilda is Cancer Free and raising my smart, cute, loving grandson. We have all been blessed by her miracle.

I celebrate  my birthday with my official birthday sponsor , The American Cancer Society who has made more birthdays possible for more people than any of us realize. You can make them your official birthday sponsor…check it out at

Then stop by Beverly’s house to see who else is joining us for Pink Saturday …How Sweet The Sound  … It’s sure to be a great day for a visit. Grab a tissue, we’re going to be celebrating Miracles among us.   LaVerne

A different way to celebrate your birthday, but a good way. I trust all your results turn out in the pink. Take care.

What a sweet Pink Saturday blog post! Sadly, every Saturday for the past few weeks it has been raining in northern Michigan. So, this day always brings a little sunshine my way. Thanks so much for the treat!

There is NO better gift you could give to yourself and to those who love you, no better gift.

♥Wishing you and yours a wonderful weekend♥

Happy Pink Saturday, LaVerne. Thank you for making Pink Saturday special, and for taking part in this day of celebration and thanks.

There truly are miracles going on all around us every day. We just have to open our hearts in acceptance.

I hope your post inspires everyone to seek their annual mammogram. It has saved many lives, and those lives are celebrating birthdays, too. I celebrate Gilda's miracle with you, and with your smart, cute, loving grandson. I have one of those, too.

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

Mexicana Dishes
My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
