Today I'm sharing pictures of a painting salvaged years ago from a shed on my in-laws property. The painting was unframed at the time and had been stored along with items inherited from a great-aunt...nobody wanted it, but I always loved it and eventually I claimed it. It didn't "go" with my blue and white country dining room nor my 80's Santa Fe Southwest rust and navy living room, but still I dragged it home because I just loved the brush work and the softness of the colors...it didn't "go" with my style, but still I loved it...finally, years later, we built a house to suit it, I painted a dining room to go with it, and Hobby Lobby had half-price week. I had looked at frames for a long time, but one day HL received some beautiful materials that just seemed perfect for my Pretty in Pink painting.
I don't even know what find of flowers those are...nothing that grew in deep south Texas, that's for sure. But I love it...and I love casually remarking, "Oh, yes, it's been in the family for years." when anyone compliments it. It's dated from the 1940's...certainly NOT antique, but I love having it...and I guess the lesson is to buy and save things you really love...most of the Santa Fe items are long gone...but this will go to the assisted living center with me when the time comes.

The painting sure is lovely and in good condition too. I can see you're really proud of it and that you treasure it so much not only because of its loveliness but it's been with the family for years :-)
Happy Pink Saturday!
Yes, excellent advice, because ultimately what you love will all work together. Happy Pink Saturday!
Lovely painting.. so great that you saved it!
It really is beautiful and what a great story. How smart you were to keep it around waiting for the right time and place.

Very lovely painting. One of the best kind comes from the memories it brings with it.

Happy Pink Saturday! Awww it's been in the family for years.... Keeping something because it was in the family for years really isn't a good reason to keep something. But you kept this painting because you loved it. You purchased the frame. And you painted a room to place it in. Adored the story. Thanks for sharing such a positive, wonderful story.

I love that you rescued this painting. Back in 1940 someone painted it hoping it would be displayed. Bless you for doing just that!
Happy Pink Saturday!

Hi LaVerne
I loved that floral painting. You are so right..the paint strokes are so pretty. I love the colors the painter chose. It was waiting for Pink Saturday wasn't it? LOL!
BTW, I remember that Santa Fe decor (my best friend) and the country rose and blue decor (me). I still have a fondness for the country and homespun decor but now I have Shabby chic in the bedrooms and my bath and mid-century in the rest of the house.

Well, LaVerne. Shouldn't we both agree on how we're decorating our assisted living center apt?!@!$?? That's okay, I love your painting and trust your impeccable taste! Love, Nanner
Terry and I had a blast at the Q, it was so much fun! You girls did a good job.
Dixie, Terry, me, and possibly a few other bloggers are planning to do Market Days. We will sure stop by.
Until then, Candy
LaVerne, I really love this painting. I do agree, if you love something hang on to it, so many times our styles change over the years and it will probably find a place eventually. I had so much fun Saturday, it was great to meet you and all the other gals. You really did have a great sale and I can't wait until the next one! I'm going to try and make it to Wimberly for Market Days, if I do I'll look you up! Kathy
