Happy 70th Birthday, Janis!!!

That’s right Janis Joplin would have turned 70 on January 19th!!!!   Can you even believe it?

Her version of  “Bobby McGee” is still the anthem of the Woodstock generation…There was no one like her…no voice like hers…no connection like hers…never will be.

Look at this wonderful picture of her laughing and happy in her wild Peter Max style Porsche.

I used this picture for our Itty Bitty Book club Mod Generation project and I found myself singing “Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz” the whole time I was working on the pages. I miss her sad, harsh blues and wish she had lived much, much longer.  I wish she were celebrating with her fans this Saturday.

Wonder what she would have been like…She would get a kick out of seeing her style coming back into the stores.

I really think she would fit right in…Letterman would have her on his show Friday night and she would have us all in stitches with her stories.

But Janis isn’t here to celebrate her 70th birthday…So I’ll just sing a few verses on the birthday song to her and wipe a tear from the corner of my eye…and remember her forever young…forever 27.
