Pink Saturday sharing Bunny Face Larkspur

A few larkspur showed up in one of my wildflower beds this year. They were volunteers left over from some I had planted several years ago. These make such perfect spring and Easter time flowers because of the little bunny face in the petals..

Can you see the little bunny face?

The purple are more difficult to find in the pictures. They are easy to spot when you hold the flower, but I had a hard time capturing their little faces.

So happy Pink Saturday and happy bunny larkspur day. It has been a beautiful spring in central Texas. Every breeze is heavy with the perfume of blooming shrubs. The butterflies and bees are having a holiday in the hedge along the driveway.

I have a butterfly book, but I have not taken time to identify the many different varieties.

The wild purple sand verbena in the meadow draw lots of these black beauties.  butterflies, larkspur and train 024

The verbena are just about bloomed out. Like the bluebonnets, they are busy making seeds for next year’s show. I love spring. It’s difficult to make myself take care of indoor chores while the world is so beautiful. I am reminded of that poem by Edna St, Vincent Millay, God’s World in which she says,” Lord, I fear thou hast made the world too beautiful this year.” She was talking about the fall, but it’s the phrase that comes to mind when I step outside with my coffee each morning. Isn’t that a lovely thought for this Pink Saturday? Now go say “Hello” to Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and then make the rounds of springtime pinks.

I enjoyed visiting your cyber garden. Just lovely. Butterflies add even more color to it.

My kids have had so much fun watching and playing with the butterflies around those bushes! And they smell so good! I see the face! That is so cool! I've never heard of those. Wish I had your green thumb! And hope we have a milder summer this yr. in central TX..last year was killer.

Hi LaVerne, I love your bunny face flowers. I have never seen them before. It is very beautiful here too. I step out on our deck and the view of the mountains takes your breath away. It was 84 today and in the 50's at night.

I finished your journal and will be mailing it to Beverly tomorrow. I am also posting it tomorrow on my blog and it is on our Facebook now. I hope you like what I created.

Happy days to you. Enjoy the outdoors and forget Spring Cleaning. HA!

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

Mexicana Dishes
My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
