Spring is on its way…a Very Pink Saturday with a Pretty in Pink Poem

While the bare pecan trees along the river bottom patiently wait for the arrival of spring,

Peach Blossoms 2012 014

other trees are singing songs of growth and renewal.  I guess the peach trees missed out on the groundhog’s prediction of six more weeks of winter. They are dressed for the sunny warm days to come…

Peach Blossoms 2012 007

I found a poem by American poet Bayard Taylor (1825-1878) that captures that impatience…

Peach Blossom

                             by Bayard Taylor

The wands of the peach tree first

Into rosy beauty burst;

Peach Blossoms 2012 006

A breath, and the sweet buds ope!

A day, and the orchards bare,

Like maids in haste to be fair.

Peach Blossoms 2012 003

Lightly themselves adorn

With a scarf the Spring at the door

Has sportingly flung before…

Peach Blossoms 2012 007

And with that celebration of the rebirth and renewal in mind, I send you off to visit the “Queen of all things Pink”, Beverly at How Sweet the Sound to see who is posting special pinkness today. Hope your week is Pink from start to finish.

I sportingly love this poem and oh how beautiful are these blossoms. Isn't it just gorgeous outside today? No news yet from South Carolina...Judy and I are texting back and forth. My phone has never gotten such a workout!

Wow!!! Those blossoms are gorgeous....and I love that poem!!

Our temps are so mild this winter...it's scary to think how hot the summer might be again. Last year was sooooo bad. We don't have anything blooming, but little plants are popping out of the ground....way too early. Yesterday it was in the 60s, today the 40s, tomorrow STORMS. I also dread "tornado season" this spring, too, and pray it's not as rough as last year. We're coming up on the year anniversary of that horrible Joplin tornado. We live about 3 hrs from there...and I remember my daughter and I, her dog and my 2 kitties, were huddled in our storm shelter that very day...not knowing how bad our neighbors to the south would soon get it.

SO....I love seeing your lovely blossoms, but at the same time...they remind me of the bad parts of this spring season that's upon us soon. Guess I just need to focus on the beauty and take the bad as it comes. OK...I'm a worrier...that's hard for me to do! ha ha!

Hope you had a great weekend....and a wonderful week ahead!

Such beautiful pink blossoms. Pink blossoms are my favorite part of Spring. Today we finally got snow, I just hope the trees aren't confused.

They are still spotted at this time.

Show and Tell Sunday June 15

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

Mexicana Dishes
My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
