Cloth and Clay Doll Workshop

It's so exciting that one of my favorite e-bay artists is offering an online workshop where she will be teaching a doll making class. It's super reasonable...only $35.00 and the tutorials and techniques are posted from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. Her work is amazing and her primitive angels are so soft and their expressions are winsome in that Mona Lisa half-smile way . She describes the class as a" beginners course in prim doll making and working with paperclay."
Her e-mail is throughtheson@hotmail.com and her name is Jane DesRosier. I can stay in my house shoes and pajamas while taking a class from a master. Technology is wonderful... not counting the times I swear at my computer...

New Music Account...And It's Free!

It's Nancy's(My Crafty Little Page) fault...she created a music account for my birthday and had the cute Disney Happy Birthday song added...and she taught me how to do it myself...I tried it...It WORKED!...then I started...first an old Carole King favorite and then "Pink" by Aerowsmith because of the Breast Cancer Awareness Swap and then a song from Tracy Chapman just because I like it. Nancy's music always matches her post topic...mine will be more like me, when I start a project, I have to get tons of "stuff" out and cull as I decide what direction I'm going. Right now, for example, I remembered a cute picture I want to post, but I don't have any mother deer with her baby twins music...I guess I could use that "Doe, a deer, a female deer..." song from Sound of Music, but then I'd have that dang tune stuck in my mind all day...so I'll put on the Carole King while I look at the deer...and listen to Aerowsmith when I post more of the Itty Bitty Prom Dress Book Swap pictures ...actually I was looking for the artist Pink and Let's Get This Party Started when I came across the song "Pink" I listened to it and like it forgetting all about what I had been looking for...such is the attention span these days...

My New Happy Birthday Blog!

My friend Nancy Gail at My Crafty Little Page surprised me with music on my redecorated and updated blog...I've never had MUSIC! What a treat...she spent the morning in on-line and on-phone tutorials walking me through some simple how-to's that I need to practice more often...I learn a new skill only to forget it the next week...I'm just a cut and paste girl from a paper and scissors world while today's crafts require the keyboard and mouse and a memory...She changed out the background and reorganized my sidebars and past swaps buttons...it's so pretty...isn't it nice to have such nice friends who so willingly share their talents...? If my sweet hubby had tried to coach me through it, we wouldn't be speaking and there would probably have been a door slammed...but girlfriends are just patient and encouraging...and we notice details like a cute edge. Thank you. thank you for my Happy Birthday...I'll be singing to myself all week...

Flea Market Finds...sounds like my whole house and yard...

Milk Glass Collection

Milk Glass Collection
Who knew that a 25 cent flea market find would unleash such a collecting frenzy? I never pay more than a dollar unless it's a really nice piece. They are great grouped with a single daisy in each.

These used to be inexpensive florist vases in the 50's and 60's. Everyone's Grandmother had bunches.

Mexicana Dishes

My sister found these for me at Bussy's Flea Market in San Antonio, Texas. I had seen pictures in her Fiesta reference book. Mexicana was also made by Homer Laughlin in the 30's. I had been looking for several years without ever finding even a single piece when she found the set...with a promise to hold it for us, she came running to find me and I bought the entire set...60+ pieces for $50.

I've added to the set over the years, but the price and experience will never match that first amazing find.

Vintage Kitchen Hutch

Vintage Kitchen Hutch
When my hubby found this hutch it was Pepto pink and I was not 100% sure about it. But with a new red back and fresh white paint and refurbished hardware, it became one of my favorite pieces.

Nancy made me save the vine

Nancy made me save the vine
The vine and flowers painted on the inside were in such bad shape that I was ready to remove it all. Nancy -My Crafty Little Page convinced me to keep it and after some touch-up work, I'm glad I listened to her. My husband restores vintage Cushman motorscooters and he tries to make everything "mint" condition again. The Shabby Chic movement came along just in time to keep me from making some terrible mistakes.
